Arnica gel is used to relieve ecchymoses (bruises) and other bruises caused by bumps. For maximum efficiency, the gel should be applied to the area to be treated as soon as possible after the trauma. To favor the action of the arnica gel, it should be lightly massaged in order to make it penetrate properly. The application of the gel can then be renewed one hour later, then three to four times a day if necessary.\
The arnica gel should not be applied on the mucous membranes, the eyes, on an open, suppurating or infected wound. On the other hand, this treatment is contraindicated in people susceptible to an allergy to arnica or one of its components. Although there are no known risks of this drug in pregnant women, it is preferable to consult a doctor or a pharmacist before using it during pregnancy. Arnica gel is available for sale without a prescription.
Arnica gel may cause some side effects. This gel contains alcohol, which can cause irritation, redness and dryness at the level of the skin when it is applied frequently. More rarely, in people sensitive to arnica or allergic, a dermatosis (skin condition) may appear. In this case, it will be necessary to suspend the application of the treatment.
Precautions for use
To use the arnica gel the first time, it is necessary to perforate the protection layer of the gel tube. This medication must then be applied with your hands, do not forget to wash them carefully later in order to avoid contact of the gel with the eyes or mucous membranes. The arnica gel tube should be closed after use so that the gel can be easily reused in case of need.
